Hi Gang,

I’m posting a new photo critique. This recording also announces a new website I’ve been developing on behalf of the Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs. Please visit and register. Today’s photo came through TC Photo Now and is a landscape image. In this photo critique I discuss the components of constructing a landscape photograph as well as how we can use color theory to create depth and movement in an image.

Hi Gang,

On occasion I produce photo critiques as an educational service to my blog audience. I recently produced one on behalf of a new website I launched for Twin Cities camera clubs, called Twin Cities Photo Now (http://www.tcphotonow.com). I’ll be regularly producing photo critiques for this new site and republishing them here for you.

This inaugural photo critique was submitted by Chet Ellingson, a blog follower and workshop participant from this past summer. Hi Gang, today’s post is an image and video tutorial of a photo I captured on Oct. 2, 2009 in Duluth Harbor. Some may recall the storm that passed through there and I showed up on the back side of it, when things had calmed just a little. The structure in this image is the Fort Whitney unloading dock, used in the 1920’s to unload sand and gravel dug from the bottom of Lake Superior. Video Tutorial: Value Systems and Street Photography

Last night I presented to the Crosstown Camera Club. This 36 minute video is a screen capture of that talk. The discussion centers on identifying your value system in photography and reconnecting with it when you get in a rut with your creativity. This concept is presented in the context of my Street Photography, in which I also introduce several techniques used to accomplish this style of street photography.
