I’m posting a new photo critique. This recording also announces a new website I’ve been developing on behalf of the Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs. Please visit and register. The site has some really cool features and opportunities for folks in the Twin Cities and beyond. The address is http://www.tcphotonow.com To view ALL the content, you must register. I’m publishing my video content there and here as well, but my blog will remain just that; a blog. The new site is for an entirely different purpose. ok, ‘nough said.
Today’s photo came through TC Photo Now and is a landscape image. In this photo critique I discuss the components of constructing a landscape photograph as well as how we can use color theory to create depth and movement in an image.

Alec: Thank you for the critique. I agree with you re: the “blank” area in the lower left of the photo. I had thought of cropping the whole photo to eliminate it, but that takes away from the panoramic nature of the setting. I was reluctant to clone flowers, but I like that idea and think it made for a stronger composition. I agree that the halos are bothersome and were the result, I believe, of some Photoshop work to pop the sky – I did not use HDR. Also, the green in the mid ground did need some “pop”. So, all in all, I enjoyed the constructive criticism and appreciate your time and effort. I continue to try to get my photography to that next level.
Hi David,
You’re welcome. The image is beautiful and we’re all trying to get our photography to the next level, whatever that may be! Happy Holidays,
Alec
Thank you for the critique of David’s landscape. I am intrigued with your use of scale and have just accomplished that technique. As for how your changed the colors that is a mystery to me but I will keep trying in my CS4 software ..
