Slap Zoom and Photoshop

Hi Gang,
Today’s post is an example of the slap zoom technique. With my editing style it produces a very graphic image. A number of you have asked about my process, what I see, how I produce the image. I’ve included a link to a video on how I did this, what I saw, etc. I’m working on a more developed video piece presenting three other images I shot over the weekend. This will take a little more time so please be patient. I hope you enjoy all of it.

Thanks for the video explaining in a bit more detail how you made this image, Alec. I’m intrigued by it. Explaining how you look for colors to work with was helpful. And seeing what you saw as you thought this through was helpful.
I’ve heard of a technique wherein you put the shutter on a delay, then throw the camera into the air. A nice spin and a slow shutter speed can produce some interesting results.
I’m uncertain if I’d be willing to make lots of images like this, but I’d sure like to try it and see how it feels.

I’m laughing really hard…”I’m uncertain if I’d be willing to make lots of images like this…” I love that, Kevin. Its seems like a very nice way of saying, “this isn’t my cup of tea.” Yeah, its not for everyone. I personally find shooting a lot of different styles, situations, subject matter a great way to grow my interest, energy and skill set. So, for that reason alone I would encourage you to try JUST one…what do ya say? Still time out there…:)
Thanks, as always, for being here. Print will be ready soon.
Cheers,
